Fire Guts Downtown Dental Office Saturday Night

Investigators will resume their work Sunday.

A fire in downtown Manhattan Beach on Saturday night has shuttered at least three businesses.

Koffee Kart, a popular breakfast spot, won't be open Sunday due to smoke damage from a blaze that began in the dental office of Steve Guidone at 1104 Highland Avenue, Manhattan Beach fireman Lou Petroni told Patch.

The Massage Spot next door to the dental office had visible damage as did an office above Guidone's. Windows were broken, furniture charred.

Guidone's office appeared a total loss, its interior gutted.

Fire personnel and investigators were on scene when Patch arrived around midnight. The fire had been put out.

Guidone arrived around 1 a.m. and spent time answering investigators' questions. He told Patch he was in a state of shock and had been in Culver City when his office staff called to notify him of the fire.

On February 2, Guidone, a Manhattan Beach resident, celebrated his 30th year in business.

Staff members from another business in the building, JWM CPA & Company, were told by the fire department that the computers in their office should be OK despite smoke damage to the office.

Fire investigators will continue their investigation into the cause of the blaze Sunday.
