Weekend's Best: Food, Wine Fundraiser

This weekend, check out stand-up from one of the funniest women in comedy, a musical about South Bay surf culture and a concert from Johnny Cash (well, sort of).

THE STRAND: A BEACH MUSICAL 

Where/When: Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Artesia Blvd., Redondo Beach; Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Tap into the local scene this weekend with this musical portraying the history of the South Bay surf scene from its roots in the early 1900s. Musical contributors include surf guitar legend Paul Johnson, Jeff Foskett (of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys), and award-winning local singer/songwriter, John Brown.

FOOD, WINE & MUSIC SUMMER PHILANTHROPIC FUNDRAISER

Where/When: Tin Roof, 3500 N. Sepluveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach; Saturday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Sponsored by the Neptunian Woman's Club, this fundraiser features plenty of tasty food, exquisite wine and live music from the Manhattan Beach Jazz Quartet. What a lovely way to spend a summer afternoon!

CASH'D OUT

Where/When: Saint Rocke, 142 Pacific Coast Hwy., Hermosa Beach; Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Hear classics like "Ring of Fire" and "I Walk the Line" live on stage from this Johnny Cash tribute band.

Pricing: $12

ETI CORRAL 8 ENGLISH HORSE SHOW 

Where/When: Ernie Howlett Park, 25851 Hawthorne Blvd., Rolling Hills Estates; Sunday, all day.

Why Go: Spend your Sunday in the park with this magnificent horse show. ETI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to good horsemanship, equine legislation and preserving trails.
