What's Up: More Offices, Banks Banned Downtown, Holiday Pier Lighting, Yuletide 5K

City officials are looking to curtail office space and bank uses downtown and in North Manhattan Beach.

Here are five things for your Wednesday and beyond in Manhattan Beach:

  1. The Planning Commission will address an agenda item Wednesday that would change the types of uses allowed downtown and in North Manhattan Beach. The proposed changes would not allow banks or offices to occupy much of what is considered prime retail space. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 1400 Highland Ave. Comment will be heard during the public hearing, and then the commission will decide whether or not to join city staff in its recommendation to approve the item and pass it on to City Council for final approval.
