What's Up: Succulent Gardens, Pier Lighting, Downtown Open House, Holiday Fireworks

Learn about waterwise succulents in a free class Saturday.

Here are five things for your Thursday and beyond in Manhattan Beach:  

  1. Learn about succulents Saturday from 10-11 a.m. when Maria Capaldo will teach a free class on how to create stunning, yet water-wise landscape displays. The class will be held in  the amphitheater at Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden inside the west end of Polliwog Park at 1236 North Peck Ave. To register, call Julie Gonella at (310) 546-1354 (leave message) or email sent to julie@manhattanbeachbotanicalgarden.org.   2. The 19th Holiday Open House and 24th Annual Pier Lighting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Details here.
  3. The 25th Annual Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks Festival is set for Dec. 8 from 3:30-7 p.m. Schedule of events here.
  4. The Manhattan Beach Yuletide 5K is set for Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m. The event includes a 5K Run/Walk for all ages, the Elves Dash 1K (ages 7-12) at 6:30 p.m., the Little Elves 400m (ages 3-6) at 6:40 p.m. and  
    Crawlers 50m (2 years old and younger) at 6:50 p.m. Sign up online. More details here.
