What's Up: The Jimmy Surf Fiesta, Wine, Cheese, Chatter, Homecoming Football Game

The sun, the surf, the sand. That's almost all you need to have fun at The Jimmy Surf Fiesta, where fundraising is fun!

Here are five things for your Thursday and beyond in Manhattan Beach:  

  1. The 2013 Jimmy Surf Fiesta takes place Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. at 42nd Street and the beach/waterline. Proceeds benefit the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation's work to provide an Ocean Therapy Program for Marines, veterans and children. Details here. 
  2. Barsha Wine & Spirits will hold a Wine, Cheese and Chatter with Esterlina Vineyards Sunday from 4-6 p.m. Tickets, priced at $15 and $40 per person, are available online through Friday. A ticket includes wine tasting, cheeses, crackers and charcuterie. Additional food will be available for purchase. Barsha is located at 917 N. Sepulveda Blvd.

  4. It's Homecoming Week at Mira Costa High School where a bunch of spirited activities have been taking place daily. The week culminates at Friday night's home football game against West High School 7 p.m. 
  5. Students at American Martyrs School are out on Thursday due to Faculty Development Day. The Manhattan Beach Unified School District held its Faculty Development Monday. Students in the district did not attend school that day.
