Here are five things for your Tuesday and beyond in Manhattan Beach:

  1. If you can get past the refrains of meeting management, open government initiatives and strategic planning, the Tuesday night City Council meeting does hold some interesting topics. Mind you, the others are worthwhile but how many times does Manhattan Beach City Council have to address some of these subjects to get them right. Awh, yes, fluidity is nice but... Meeting location and time here, among other notes.
  2. The school board race is a tight one with four candidates after three seats. Listen to the candidates live Wednesday night at a forum. Details here.
  3. Make sure you're "Patched In" to get alerts on breaking news as it happens in town this week (and after), make sure you are signed up to get our emails. Click on the 'get the daily newsletter' at the top, right corner of this page. (If you see something that says, "hi, username," then you're already registered. In that case, click on "email settings" under the drop-down tab under your name.)
  4. Ready for the Manhattan Beach 10K Run Saturday, Oct. 5. Have you signed up yet? Details here.
  5. Submit your application pronto for the Community Police Academy put on by the Manhattan Beach Police Department. You'll learn mucho, make new friends and get to do a ride-along in a patrol car. Details here.
