Manhattan Beach Professional Architect Tony Gonzales, AIA, LEED AP, Tapped by HNTB Corporation

HNTB Corporation names Tony Gonzales as Los Angeles-area office leader and West Division, architectural practice leader

Gonzales brings more than 30 years of complex transportation and architecture expertise to infrastructure clients in the region

Tony Gonzales, AIA, LEED AP, has rejoined HNTB Corporation as vice president, Los Angeles-area office leader and architectural practice leader for the West Division. He is located in the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office.

In his new role at HNTB, Gonzales uses his considerable architecture, engineering and construction management expertise to develop strategic business objectives promoting the firm’s growth in the region. He also leads the design performance and operation management divisions for the firm’s architectural practice in the West.

In his former role with HNTB, he served as office leader, principal in charge and architect of record on many complex projects for many of the region’s transportation-related agencies, including Los Angeles World Airports, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Metrolink, the City of Los Angeles and the University of Southern California.

Gonzales earned a Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. He has a professional license in architecture, and he has Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Gonzales also is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute, American Public Transportation Association, U.S. Green Building Council and the World Future Society.

Nationwide, HNTB is celebrating its 100th Anniversary throughout 2014. The firm’s history in Southern California began a century ago with the design of the first concrete bridge in the state, Pasadena’s Colorado State Bridge. Engineering News-Record recently ranked HNTB among the top three firms for bridges and highways. Architectural Record ranked the firm as Top Design Firm by total value of arena and stadium construction starts from January 2012 through June 2013, and the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium as top stadium project in the nation.

HNTB continues to work on some of the most complex and highly visible projects in the region, including the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement, the Interstate 405 Sepulveda Pass Widening Project, the Tom Bradley International Terminal Expansion at the Los Angeles International Airport and the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor.
