Lakers Buy 5 Acres in South Bay to Build Training Facility

The Los Angeles Lakers announced today they have entered into an agreement with CDC Mar Campus, LLC to buy approximately five undeveloped acres in El Segundo where they will build a practice facility and team offices.

The completion of the purchase of the undeveloped portion of the development known as Elevon at Campus El Segundo at the northwest corner of Mariposa Avenue and Douglas Street,  is subject to various conditions, including approval by the El Segundo City Council, according to John Black, the Lakers vice president of public relations.

The building will also be the site of the practice facility and team offices of the Lakers NBA Development League team, the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

The Lakers and D-Fenders practice and have offices at the Toyota Sports Center on Nash Street in El Segundo.
