Harness the 'Power of the Ocean' Saturday

The fundraising event for The Sarcoma Alliance will feature original ocean photography, food, drink, film and music.

The photography of Manhattan Beach resident Ken Pagliaro will be among the many highlights of the 2013 Power of the Ocean fundraising gala on Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Kiwanis Club of Hermosa Beach.

The professional photog who captures incredible ocean shots of surfers and others is helping The Sarcoma Alliance fundraiser, which is put on by The Ocean of Hope (O2H), their exclusive fundraising organization. O2H consists of paddlers and ocean enthusiasts who use their training and racing as a means of outreach, support and hope, according to online information.

The gala will include food and drinks from Kona Brewing Company, the live music of Kapali Long, the story of world-class paddleboarder Jamie Mitchell in the movie Decade of Dominance, and a short clip about the Catalina Classic by Chris Aguilar and Fin Film Company.

O2H puts on paddleboard and outrigger-canoe races across the country to raise money and awareness for cancer patients and their families. The Power of the Ocean event gives local the chance to help raise funds for O2H's work.

Tickets are $10 online or $15 at the door. You can also donate to the organization online.
