Open Toe Shoe Party at Shade Hotel

Sport some open toe footwear (or not!) to show off your stylin' toe nails at this fundraiser to help research in the leading cause of childhood blindess.

Toes and feet will be in style Sunday during the fifth annual Open Toe Shoe Party at Shade Hotel.

Designed to raise money to enable research on optic nerve hypoplasia, the leading cause of blindness in children, this event is super special--Shade Hotel Owner Mike Zislis is donating 100 percent of the proceeds Dr. Mark Borchert to conduct research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles' The Vision Center.

Zislis' 5-year-old daughter Milla has the condition, for which there is no known cause and an increasing prevalence, said Borchert.

Sunday's event will feature five celebrity judges: Skechers shoe designer Cara Cutler, volleyball player Leanne McSorley, Chef Stuart O'Keefe, shoe designer Taryn Rose and former winner Sherri Flaghur, according to a Daily Breeze article.

The event showcases people who show up in a variety of shoes--normal sandals, fashionable sandals and outright gaudy footwear.
