Roundhouse Aquarium Awards Prizes to Fun Run Winners

By Lynne S. Gross

Tom Zannoch, Amy Shertzer, Tafton Thompson, Sara Gustafson and Luke Plelert took home the first place prizes from the Roundhouse Aquarium 5K Fun Run held May 17.

Zannoch was first in the category for men 15 and older and also had the overall best time of 18:25.0.

The race started at 9:30 a.m. at the Manhattan Beach pier with more than 100 participants  running north along the ocean and back again. A group of Roundhouse volunteers cheered the runners on and offered them water at various points along the way.

Racewire provided the timing and Drew Mitchel acted as disc jockey. The major sponsors were Chevron, Wells Fargo, Forbes/Corrales Coastal Properties, USA National Title Company and BBVA Compass.

Proceeds from the race support the aquarium’s educational programs related to ocean life and the environment.

The awards ceremony took place after all the participants had finished running (or
walking). The top three in each category received a metal and a prize. They were:
