Tips for Preventing Crime at Your Home

These tips are handy when you are leaving your residence for a vacation.

Here are some crime prevention tips, which could come in handy if you're leaving town during the spring break for Manhattan Beach public school students.

Manhattan Beach Police Officer Stephanie Martin aks you to please do the following:

  • Have a neighbor pick up your newspapers and mail. (Do not cancel the delivery service.)
  • Encourage neighbors to park in your driveway.
  • Place interior lights on timers.
  • Secure all windows and doors, including gates and garage doors.

For participants in MB's Neighborhood Watch, do the following as well.

  • Notify your Block Captain and immediate neighbors (provide emergency contact information) when you will be gone and when you expect to arrive home.
