Bourbon Cocktails and Southern Fare at Tin Roof Bistro

If bourbon cocktails and a four-course, family-style meal with a Southern bent sound good to you, check out Tin Roof Bistro's Bourbon Dinner Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. for $54 per person, tax and gratuity not included.

The restaurant is celebrating its exclusive blend of barrel-aged bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery. Chef Anne Conness’ gourmet meal will feature a La Caja China whole roasted pig. The bourbon cocktail pairings hail from Beverage Director Pablo Kovacs.

The first course is corn chowder shooters with mini bacon biscuits paired with a cocktail called "Trace on the Rocks." The second course is watermelon, heirloom tomatoes, arugula, feta cheese, herb vinaigrette served with a mint julep. A whiskey sour accompanies the roasted pig, southern cole slaw and fingerling potatoes. Dessert is a vanilla wafer cream pie served with a vanilla-infused Manhattan with Luxardo cherries.

Tin Roof Bistro features house-made cocktail ingredients such as tonics, shrubs and bitters, and Kovacs wanted to find a special blend of bourbon that would complement them. Out of six samples, Kovacs selected Barrel No. 38 which is smoky and slightly sweet with a vanilla and clove scent. He believes it to be incredibly smooth and perfect for Tin Roof's old fashions, juleps and Manhattans or on the rocks.

Tin Roof Bistro will hold the dinner on The Patio; (310) 939-0900 for reservations.
