Race starts at 2:00pm, Kids Races start at 3:00pm.
Celebrate the holidays and the Winter Solstice at the most unusual running event in LA. You don't have to wake up early for this baby. Sleep in for once! Then bring the whole family and run/walk during the lowest tide of the season. Race out and back along the water's edge and enjoy a magnificent sunset. Stay and play at the many fine bars and restaurants in downtown Manhattan Beach. You won't find anything else like it!

Kids Races
Kids can do the 5K or compete in their own race after the 5K in the Little Elves Dash. Adults have a chance to watch the youngsters race up and down at age appropriate distances. Cool awards and a chance to stand on the podium to the top five in the following divisions: 2 and under, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12. Bring the kids!

Jingle Bracelets and Beachy T-Shirts to all pre-registered runners and to late registrants while supplies last.

Unique Awards to the top 5 and a chance to stand on the podium in all 28 age divisions. The kids races have the same cool awards as the adults!

Course Description

The Yuletide 5K starts and finishes under the Christmas lights of the Manhattan Beach Pier. Race out and back north to the jetty at 45th Street. The course is entirely on hard packed sand at super low tide making for an incredibly beautiful experience. The miles are marked with splits and "kick" markers from 400m to go guarantee your best finish.

Racing Strategy

The super low tide creates a perfect running surface of hard packed sand like a dirt road so running with or without shoes is an option (the faster athletes tend to wear shoes). One can even wear track spikes! Baby joggers work great and are encouraged as the kids love being that close to the sea.

Spectator Tips

Stand on the Manhattan Beach Pier for a great view - and don't forget to bring your camera!

Directions and Parking

405 to Rosecrans west. South on Sepulveda (Pacific Coast Highway) to Manhattan Beach Blvd. West to the ocean. Parking in lots at Manhattan Pier, and lot and structure at Highland and 12th St. Most parking is free as the meters are bagged for the holidays!
