"Raising UP Your Parents" Seminar for Adult Children and Seniors

Susan B Geffen's "Raising Up Your Parents" is a unique FREE seminar and expo with a title that refers to "lifting your parents up" as they attempt to meet the challenges relating to growing older and more dependent upon others. It will be at the Burbank Marriott on June 4, 9am to 12 noon.

Many adult children find themselves in crisis when they have to suddenly care for an elderly family member. Most of us are totally unprepared for the daunting financial and emotional strain we face when we have to change our routines and care for an elderly person.

"RAISING UP YOUR PARENTS" is a seminar and expo designed to help you prepare for the inevitable or cope better with an already existing situation. It answers questions about in-home care and how it differs from in-home health care. What is the difference between "Assisted Living" and a "Skilled Nursing Facility?" What is the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia?

As a geriatric care manager, elder law attorney and former elder law professor, Susan B Geffen has worked closely with many families who are trying to help a parent or relative struggling with Alzheimer's or dementia or other age related health challenges.

“This is not a senior health fair. This is about getting answers to the hard questions without having to spend countless hours on the phone or navigating the internet” says Susan.

In addition to Susan being the lead speaker, she has hand-picked a panel of individuals who are experts in the field of senior services. These panel members speak for 3 to 5 minutes. Before the seminar, during the break, and after the seminar, attendees can visit and ask questions of the elder care sponsors whose booths are set-up in the room.

One of the biggest questions people have is "How can I afford to pay for these services?" Susan will be discussing this in detail, and part of this discussion includes what Social Security and Medicare cover, what the "doughnut hole" is, and what Medicare Advantage plans cover.

Who should come to this event? Baby Boomers, adult children who are caretakers of elderly parents or relatives, and anyone who anticipates caring for an elderly person in the future.

The “RAISING UP YOUR PARENTS” seminar & expo is FREE to all.

There are nine more seminars scheduled for 2011 throughout Southern California. The schedule is available online at http://raisingupyourparents.com
