1. "SUMMER OF COLOR" ART AUCTION 

Where/When: Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach, Friday, 6 – 9 p.m.

Why Go: Proceeds benefit the Hermosa Arts Foundation, Hermosa Beach Education Foundation and Portraits of Hope.

Pricing: Up to you – that’s the fun of an auction!

Where/When: Manhattan Beach Creative Arts Center, 1560 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Saturday, 5 - 8 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate artistic endeavors in the community at this opening reception, featuring local artists' work and local artists. Refreshments include wine, cheese, fruit, crackers and sushi. MB Mayor Richard Montgomery and Councilman Wayne Powell are expected to attend.

Pricing: Free

 

3. MANHATTAN BEACH JAZZ QUARTET AT LIDO 

Where/When: Lido di Manhattan Ristorante & Bar, 1550 Rosecrans Ave., Suite G, Manhattan Beach, Saturday, 7 - 9 p.m. during dinner. 310-536-0730

Why Go: Local musicians play smooth jazz while you dine at this superb establishment. Special Valentine's menu available.

Pricing: Dinner entrees $15 - $29, plus drinks, etc.

 

4. DAMN YANKEES 

Where/When: Hermosa Beach Playhouse, 710 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach, Friday, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: This Tony Award-winning musical about baseball is being performed by an amazing local youth theater group.

Pricing: $15

 

5. SILHOUETTE ARTIST KARL JOHNSON 

Where/When: Sol Baby, 124 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach, Saturday, 11 a.m.

Why Go: Silhouettes make great Valentine's Day gifts for your sweetie. Plus, Johnson’s work was featured in the movie, Black Swan!

Pricing: $25

 

5. PURRFECT PARTNERS BAKE SALE 

Where/When: Centinela Pet Supplies, 413 N. Pacific Coast Hwy., Redondo Beach, Saturday, 12 – 4 p.m.

Why Go: This fundraiser for cat adoption and rescue work will be selling tasty treats for just a dollar (and what could be a better Valentine’s gift than a cookie and a kitten?)

Pricing: $1 per treat
