Have a Spicy Super Bowl Fiesta

Manhattan Beach mainstay Pancho's is the place to go for a fun and delicious evening. Start out in the cantina, then move on into its artifact-packed interior.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week,  Manhattan Beach Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

PANCHO'S RESTAURANT -- With massive front doors salvaged from a castle in Spain, Pancho's is living testament to artifacts merging with upscale cuisine. Thanks to the hands-on spirit of Owner Ab Lawrence, the restaurant is  one fun place to dine. If you're in the mood for the cantina, grab a seat and check out the antique solid mahogany front and back bar that was once part of an old saloon in Emporia, Kansas, and is approximately one hundred ten years old. This Manhattan Beach fixture is much revered and features one of the largest Mexican menus ever seen with items that include shrimp, crab, salmon, carne asada, chile colorado or verde, carnitas, tilapia, chicken and much more. 3615 Highland Ave. 310-545-6670. Open daily for lunch or Sunday brunch and dinner. Prices: $12.95 to $24.95 for entrees.
