Hermosa's Kit Bobko Latest to Endorse Craig Huey

As the November election nears, candidates continue to announce endorsements. See who is on Craig Huey's list.

Hermosa Beach Mayor Pro Tem Patrick "Kit" Bobko joins Manhattan Beach Mayor Wayne Powell on the list of politicians who have endorsed Republican Craig Huey in his bid for California's new 66th Assembly District

Huey's campaign announced Bobko's endorsement Monday.

“California needs a change,” said Bobko in a press release. “As a small business owner, Craig Huey understands what the economy needs in order to grow. Let’s restore fiscal strength and jobs by balancing the budget and eliminating job-killing regulations. Craig Huey will prioritize job creation and get Californians back to work.”

Huey, a Rolling Hills Estates resident, is running against Democrat Al Muratsuchi, a Torrance school board member, to represent the South Bay—including Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Torrance—in the State Assembly. Voters will decide the race at the polls in the November election.

Huey has been endorsed by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor Anthony Misetich, RPV City Council members Brian Campbell, Jerry Duhovic and Susan Brooks, former RPV Mayor Barbara Ferraro, Redondo Beach City Councilman Matt Kilroy, former Redondo Councilman Gerard Bisignano and former 66th Assembly District Republican candidate Nathan Mintz. Mintz lost to Huey and Muratsuchi under the new "top two" primary law in a March election.

In the March election, of the 256,635 voters registered within the 66th District, 54,334 voters cast their ballots in June's primary election. Muratsuchi received 22,225 votes; Huey received 20,939; and Mintz received 11,170.

ROMNEY PAYS MORE IN TAXES AND HIGHER % THAN MOST AMERICANS http://politicaloutcast.com/2012/08/mitt-romney-pays-a-higher-percent-in-taxes-than-90-of-all-americans/ This came as a shock even to me. The media have been doing a great job in propagandizing for Team Obama by making a campaign issue out of the fact that Mitt Romney “only” paid around 15 percent in taxes. That “only” works out to more than $3,200,000. More precisely, in 2010, somewhere between 90 and 95 percent of Americans had a lower effective income tax rate thanRomney’s 13.9 percent.  In 2011, somewhere between 95 and 97 percent of Americans had a lower effective income tax rate than Romney’s 15.4 percent, at least according to the latest IRS data from 2010.

You see Mr. Levy, after all is said and done, in my opinion there is a real difference between progressives like me and reactionary, extremists conservatives like you. I care about ending terrorism not emboldening terrorists, about fighting disease and poverty worldwide, about rejecting torture, about affordable energy costs, about fighting global warming and developing sensible alternative energy sources, about quality education for our children, about tax and election reform, about keeping religion out of government and our schools, about caring for our senior citizens, about affordable prescription drugs, about providing quality health care for all, about creating good jobs, about protecting social security and medicaid, about sexual equality and gay rights, about not enabling corrupt and oppressive governments, about a woman's right to chose and a fair immigration policy, about civil rights for all, about safeguarding the environment and protecting wildlife and about not opting to stimulate corporate profits and malfeasance at the expense of the working class of this country. It' not too late to change, your immorality can be left behind. You can do it.

a tired cliche? i've always wondered how republican men - and THEIR women - really feel about old men being covered by insurance for viagra - long after they 'have' to procreate - or should - while denying planned parenthood, women's clinics, et al, from being insured for their healthcare, future - their very lives, let alone their balding, white-haired pleasure-seeking husbands... or ex'es...!
bev August 23, 2012 at 06:54 PM
a tired cliche, 2: a woman's right to choose is not just about her 'body, life, living, future.' it's about her ability to be healthy and plan her OWN family and keep and grow HER jobs - HER income that SHE will spend in america, on american products, for the good of HERSELF - and us all. what is wrong with that 'grand old man's party' - in which craig huey is a stalwart supporter - of his neighbors, working women and moms, being healthy and able enough to think and plan for themselves? to participate, earn and spend money, in this lousy WORLD economy - for the good of our community, our state, our nation - indeed, our world? what is WRONG with these republicans???
bev August 23, 2012 at 06:57 PM
responsa, #3: we see that spear's has quoted the article about huey. has she, will she, also present an equally objective article in favor, if you'll excuse the expression, of those who know and respect and support maratsuchi?
bev August 23, 2012 at 07:06 PM
barry, romney is a VERY rich man. he gives to his church 10% of his income, probably after taxes, such as they are. it is not charity. it is duty. it is required as a member of his church. and with income such as he and his wife (independently earn, as well) 10% is a sad state of affairs. as ann said, sharing more of our tax returns would only give the press more reasons for negativity. biden is NOT a rich man, fyi - one of the few in washington politics, btw. he is a decent man. been through hell and back, as you may recall - and deserves your respect for his years of care and interest and energy for us all, not just his wee state of delaware.
Catch A Wave August 23, 2012 at 07:09 PM
It should be noted that the following Republicans who endorsed Tea Party candidate Nathan Mintz in the primary have endorsed Democrat Muratsuchi. That shows you how unqualified Craig Huey is. Palos Verdes Estates Mayor George Bird, Torrance City Councilman Bill Sutherland and Water Replenishment District of Southern California board member Rob Katherman.
Barry Levy August 23, 2012 at 08:26 PM
You still haven't responded with how much you, from your vast funds, contribute to charity. It is easy to care, and say you care, very different to do. And you are must as much an extremist that you claim I am, but on the other side. Your whole attack was based on wanting to be fiscally conservative and not go into bankruptcy. So what happens when the debt is unmanageable Do you have your check for $64,000 for the new debt that each American now owes or do you want someone else to pay your fair share, while you care.
Barry Levy August 23, 2012 at 08:28 PM
Bev, yes Mitt is rich, and more power to him, as he gave away his inheritance, and made the money on his own. He also served as governor with no compensation and ran the Olympics with no compensation. and you don't call that sharing, or being charitable. And he ran both successfully. And if you didn't notice his Olympics were in Feb. 2002, when the world didn't think we should even have them, because of a little security problem, that libs/dems/ seem to minimize that happened in Sept.
Catch A Wave August 23, 2012 at 08:41 PM
Mitt Romney is a perfect representative for the rich, white, male, christian ruling class in this country. Anti-minority, anti-gay, anti-woman, anti environment, anti-elderly, anti-children and out of touch with the middle-class.
bev August 23, 2012 at 09:35 PM
barry: a) ann let slip a while ago - when he was running for governor - that at one point - in college, i believe - they were 'so low' in funds, they actually considered dipping into their portfolios... doesn't sound much like giving his inheritance away.. especially when they had/have her's.
bev August 23, 2012 at 09:40 PM
barry: and, b) are you talking about 'my vast funds' where/how do you assume that?
bev August 23, 2012 at 09:44 PM
speaking of romney and business and morality - you read today's news, yes? romney's investments in casinos and tobacco industries? where's the integrity? such investments aren't verboten to me, but they are sins to mormons. well, i think cigarettes oughtta be verboten altogether, but that's another romney. oops, story... (that's good, isn't it? lol)
bev August 23, 2012 at 09:54 PM
barry - final pps (i've GOT to get back to work!) romney says he donated his inheritance to byu - but that was in the late 90s, long after he'd used that money to help build bain - and all the money he made with that - it's really not like he gave it away and started with nothing, like, say, obama. or biden. or ryan. now, let's get back to huey and maratsuchi...

Catch A Wave, the middle class wasn't destroyed by old rich white guy's. It was destroyed by their hand feed, tree hugging, foreign car driving, military hating, off shoots, called their children. Who spewed their hate filled message to all their friends and destroyed every single person attempting to rebuild their lives after serving in the military. I enlisted in the "Marine Corps" two months after "Viet Nam" ended, I watched your type attempt to destroy every single Vet returning home. I watched the "Elitist College Professors" who would fail Vets, just because they where Vets. I know, I was their at the time. Please spare all of us the crap that you care. I'm willing to bet you drive a foreign car, probably Japanese or German, those countries after all really helped the "Gays", "Jews", "Elderly" and "Infirm" during their attempt at world domination. How many million of each of those groups did they kill off. What, wait the American's that you so hate, rescued us from that, damn, I guess you forgave those who slaughtered, but not those who screwed up by building a few bad cars in the 80's. Your absolute blind hatred for people that you did not have time to destroy with you or your parents communistic rants during the 60's, made the American dream work for them. You destroyed the "Middle Class", now your crying about it. I can write my check, how about you!
bev August 23, 2012 at 11:49 PM
who's on first? i have no idea who's talking to/with whom...
Catch A Wave August 24, 2012 at 12:01 AM
Tim, your incoherent diatribe is laughable. I know you people hate facts but try this on for size. The middle class in this country was thriving under Bill Clinton's stewardship. Then enter George Bush. When Clinton left office Jan. 20th, 2001 there was a surplus of $128 billion. The debt when Bush left office on Jan. 20, 2009, was $6.307 trillion dollars. Who destroyed the middle class hmmm?
Catch A Wave August 24, 2012 at 12:13 AM
And by the way, why integrate the Vietnam era into this discussion? That was forty five years ago, what does that have to do with anything we are talking about? But since you chose to open that can of worms, you sound like another whiner from that time a purveyor of revisionist history. As if going to Vietnam to fight an immoral war on the other side of the world against people who never attacked us was a badge of honor. Let me set you straight sir! Those who had the moral fortitude not to go were the real heroes. Those who burned their draft cards and/or went to Canada and accepted that jail or leaving their loved ones was the price they would have to pay for choosing peace. Draft or not, everyone had a choice to make. Many of those who went, burned villages, used napalm and committed atrocities and carpet bombed civilians in North Vietnam were vilified for a reason. Blind obedience to immorality is not service to your country.
Tim Sole August 24, 2012 at 01:31 AM
So, you openly admit you hate all things American. Good for you, how's that car built by killers working for you. So, do you have your check ready? I got mine ready.
Tim Sole August 24, 2012 at 01:33 AM
Now I understand, you ran and hid, you coward. Is your check ready yet?
Tim Sole August 24, 2012 at 01:50 AM
The simple fact on Clinton. The first Bush, looked us right in the eye and said he had to raise taxes. Nothing against Clinton, but Bush 1 gave him they tax increase needed. By the way, what I watched my party do to Bush 1, I simply couldn't fathom. That's when I became an independent. I will never be able to be a Democrat again.
bev August 24, 2012 at 02:02 AM
bush 1 did the right thing. and republicans punished him for it. bush 2 did the wrong thing, and america is STILL paying for it - and will, for decades to come. wars AND recession. what a disappointment he must be to his parents. he certainly disappointed the republicans who voted him in a second term!
Catch A Wave August 24, 2012 at 02:27 AM
Who hates America, not I. I'm a patriot and that's why I am engaged in trying to save this country from neanderthal tea party freaks and bigots. You make no sense, driving cars made by killers? What the hell does that mean? And writing a check? Again, what the hell does that mean. You're not doing your cause any favor that's for sure. Try being coherent if you are capable.
Tim Sole August 24, 2012 at 02:31 AM
Do you drive an American car? If not where is it made? I'll slow down so you cab catch up.
Tim Sole August 24, 2012 at 04:45 AM
Catch A Wave, If your patriotic duty sent you to Canada, why the Hell did you come back. Or why the Hell did your parents come back. If America sucks that bad, what the Hell are you doing here. You haven't answered the questions, what the hell are you doing here and what the hell car are you driving. Pretty simple I say, I have my check ready for the debt we owe, where the hell is yours?
Tim Sole August 24, 2012 at 05:18 AM
Bev, unfortunately, the "Read My Lips" campaign, that President Clinton so successfully run, will stick with me forever. I vote for people who are willing to step up and admit their mistakes. My opinion on Bush 2 is, he had tough choices to make. Second time we where attacked on our own soil, tough call to make. By the way, the first attack was by the Japanese. I live in the Southbay, I see what people drive.
Jeff Cohn September 13, 2012 at 02:16 PM
Kit Bobko has 0 voting credibility in Hermosa Beach. His record shows politics come before public safety and health. http://www.nobpinhb.com/2012/09/hermosa-beach-city-council-voting.html

today - oct 18 2012 - ann romney said her husband's not serving in vietnam was because he was already serving a mission. serving a mission, she said. she neglected to mention he sat out the war in the south of france serving a mission for his church! while our young troops were fighting and dying for our country. when asked if ANY of their five sons have served in the military, she said, they have all served missions. she never mentioned they were 'serving' their church instead. she actually equates military service during wars to spending a year in france proselytizing for their religion ... what is wrong with these people??? i had friends who died in vietnam. and those who came back dead inside. for a LONG time. there is no comparison. the romneys are NOT in touch with america. or our ideals. or america's mission!
H. Schwartz October 19, 2012 at 01:57 PM
Hey Bev, did you vote for Clinton?
Tim Sole October 19, 2012 at 03:04 PM
I am really sure that neither of the candidates ever served in the military. I am also really sure that their children will never serve in the military. I am also really sure that their childrens children will not serve in the military. Rich peoples kids do not serve in the military and both candidates are really rich guys. So, this comes as no shock to me at all.
