Ring Out the Old, Ring in the New

City Council will say goodbye to two 'termed out' members who have served two consecutive four-year terms and swear in an incumbent and two new members at Tuesday night's meeting.

It's bound to be a fairly short City Council meeting Tuesday as the legislative body bids adieu to two members and swears in two newbies and an incumbent.

As is customary at meetings where new City Council members are sworn in, the agenda is fairly short.

One item of note on the consent calendar is for an estimated $390,000 three-year contract for "Citywide Street Tree Inventory Services and Tree Trimming." West Coast Arborists is the business the city is putting forward as its preference.

Items on the consent calendar are considered routine business and adopted with one vote, however, anyone at the meeting can remove the item from the consent calendar, and address council about it later in the meeting.

Outgoing council members Nick Tell and Richard Montgomery are expected to say a few words before incumbent Wayne Powell and newly elected members Mark Burton and Tony D'Errico are sworn in for four-year terms.

The meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. in council chambers at city hall, 1400 Highland Ave., is open to the public.
