SCE's On, Then Off Again Planned Power Outage Plans Demystified
The first planned outage date was Sept. 5, but that was moved to Sept. 17. Then the Sept. 17 date was moved to Sept. 20. Confused? Details here.
Each of the 3,500 Southern California Edison customers who will be without power during a planned power outage beginning on Sept. 20 should have received a postcard notification in the mail, said SCE spokesperson Scott Gobble Friday.
If you haven't, Gobble said the postcard could arrive Saturday.
With two previously scheduled outages in September, one on the 5th, the other on the 17th, being rescheduled after SCE customers were informed of them, households and business owners could be confused about whether or not their power will be out during the Sept. 20-Sept. 21 planned power outage.
Gobble told Patch the original outage on Sept. 5 did not happen due to Rosh Hashanah, however, SCE customers who would have been without power that day were mailed advance postcard notifications of the outage.
"We tried to do it (the planned power outage) on the 5th but out of respect to people of that religious faith, we moved it to Sept. 17th," he said.
Postcards were then sent again to the same SCE customers, telling them the planned outage would be on Sept. 17. When SCE realized the date would impact schools, a robo call was made to every impacted customer telling them the date was being moved from the 17th to Sept. 20, Gobble said.
