California National Guard Armory Block Walk and Fencing Replacement Project

The California National Guard Armory will be beginning a block walk and fencing replacement project along Bell Avenue near Sand Dune Park. The work is currently scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 4th. The project consists of the removal of the top three courses of block to arrest reinforcing steel corrosion and spalling, and the construction of a new 6’ fence two feet inside the current perimeter, and some drainage improvements. The fence material will be vinyl coated for improved aesthetics. All the work occurs on State property, however, the demolition and construction process will necessitate periodical closing of the sidewalk and loss of parking near Sand Dune Park. City staff is working closely with National Guard personnel and their contractor to ensure the adjacent neighborhood is notified and given project contact information.
