Drop, Cover, and Hold On

Millions of people worldwide will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:17 a.m. on October 17th during Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills, which began in California in 2008. The City of Manhattan Beach is an Official Participant in what will be the largest earthquake drill in U.S. History.

Why Drop, Cover, and Hold On?

Federal, state, and local emergency management experts and other official preparedness organizations all agree that "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" is the appropriate action to reduce injury and death during earthquakes. The ShakeOut is our opportunity to practice how to protect ourselves during earthquakes. The link attached page explains what to do -- and what not to do.
