fire extinguisher training

The City continues to emphasize personal preparedness.  Last Saturday, July 20th, the Manhattan Beach Fire Department conducted fire extinguisher operation and safety training to 20 members of Map Your Neighborhood and Neighborhood Watch.  Participants were given lessons in fire chemistry, behavior and safety. Each member was taught how to properly operate an extinguisher using the PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) system. At the conclusion of the class, each member was given an opportunity to utilize their newly learned skills and extinguish a fire using the department's recently purchased Bullex system.  Participating members from these groups are now more prepared to assist during emergencies in their homes and neighborhoods.
