Farmers Market Springs Into Summer

The weekly downtown event is now open an hour longer, in keeping with the season's leisurely schedule.

Visitors to the weekly Manhattan Beach Farmers Market near Metlox Plaza gained an extra hour of shopping and nibbling today as new hours took effect for the summer season.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the market will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., an hour later than the usual closing time.

Sponsored by the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business Association, the market features about 40 vendors, including local growers as well as prepared food and wares merchants.
