Grand Jury Indicts Manhattan Beach Bank Robber

The man arrested for allegedly robbing a bank in Manhattan Beach has been indicted in U.S. Middle District Court for escaping from Capital Pavilion, a community re-entry facility in Harrisburg, PA.

Daniel Wayne Gaudio, 55, was at the half-way house facility completing a federal sentence of 9 years, 2 months imposed in 2008 for robbing two banks, according to The Patriot-News. He left the facility on March 9th and was arrested on April 19th in Culver City. The Manhattan Beach U.S. Bank robbery took place on March 29th.

After the grand jury indictment Thursday, Assistant U.S Attorney George J. Rocktashel said Gaudio could choose to have the escape charge transferred to California, instead returning to Harrisburg to face the charge.

After Gaudio's April arrest, Manhattan Beach Police Department Detective Michael Rosenberger, whose investigation and distribution of flyers helped nab the suspect, said the FBI would handle the Manhattan Beach incident and Gaudio would be prosecuted on federal charges.
