Nominations For SEED Awards Close Friday

Local individuals, groups and businesses that have exhibited excellence in helping to improve environmental sustainability and the quality of life in the South Bay are invited to apply for the SoCal Environmental Excellence Development (SEED) Awards Program from the members of the South Bay Business Environmental Coalition. The deadline was extended to Friday, and electronic submissions are preferred.

Awards will given for environmental leadership, pollution prevention, education and outreach, resource preservation and innovation. The Bridge-Builder Award rounds out the categories.

Honorees will be selected by a panel of business and industry representatives, with the award presentation taking place on Sept. 26 by invitation only.
The awards's aim is to encourage and inspire environmental sustainability strategies.

Former Manhattan Beach award winners include: Door-to-Door Valet Cleaners, Northrop Grumman, Manhattan Towers and Go Green Lunchbox, according to Manhattan Beach City Manager David Carmany.

Honorable mentions have gone to Manhattan Beach residents Daniel Salzman, John Wilcox and Peter DeMaria, the Roundhouse Aquarium, and several businesses, he said, including Lucky Earth, Manhattan Bread and Bagel, Body in Balance Health Center, South Bay Green, Dealer.com and The Zislis Group.
