Picture of the Week

This coastal view of El Porto—with the telltale signs of El Segundo and LAX in the background—is a textbook example of photographic timing (note the woman, plane and bird). It also "very much encapsulates what our beach is," says Manhattan Beach resident Jake Rome.

Rome's out-of-town guest, Tre Jackson—visiting from Houston to meet up with a Flickr photography group to which the pair belong—snapped this earlier in the week.

The group's members traveled from more than a dozen U.S. states—as well as England, Sweden and Australia—to attend opening weekend of The DMU SH*W 2010. Twenty-six of the exhibiting photographers were in attendance. The show runs weekends through May in east Los Angeles.
