Opening Reception for "Both Sides of the Lens": A Photography Exhibit

"Both Sides of the Lens" Opens Oct. 19

In front of the lens. a leopard streaks across Kenya's Maasai Mara, paparazzi circle their prey in Beverly Hills, a forest shines through the walls of a summer home. Behind the lens, the artist captures a vision with the snap of a shutter or after long hours in the darkroom or digital lightroom. "Both Sides of the Lens," an exhibition by the Photographic and Digital Artists group, opens Saturday, October 19th.

These artists have garnered awards including Best of Show at the Los Angeles County Fair, Spotlight Awards from Black and White Magazine, and Excellence in Arts Award (Torrance). For this show, each artist presents a series on a personal theme--delicate sepia landscapes, the vivid streets of Havana, or places that exist only in the artist's mind where sunsets are popsicle-colored, and contemporary people walk into classic paintings.

The public is invited to meet the artists at a free reception Oct. 19, 6-9 pm.
