Annual Pier Lighting and Downtown Open House Wednesday

The annual event is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the holiday spirit.

Get ready for the 19th Holiday Open House and 24th Annual Pier Lighting, set for Wednesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in downtown Manhattan Beach, according to the city website.

The event gives merchants, restaurants and revelers a chance to get in the holiday spirit as carolers and musicians stroll downtown and Santa and his helpers make appearances.

At 6:30 p.m., the pier lighting ceremony will begin with live entertainment, with Mayor David Lesser flipping the light switch at 7:30 p.m. to debut the pier's 2013 holiday lights.

The Neptunian Woman's Club will hold a Bake Sale from 5-8 p.m. to benefit The Roundhouse Aquarium, which is at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier and will be open before and after the holiday lights are turned on Wednesday.
