The 53rd Annual Manhattan Beach Open

The City of Manhattan Beach, in partnership with IMG Worldwide, is proud to present the 53rd annual Manhattan Beach Open.

The largest volleyball tournament on the AVP tour, the event will take place Friday, August 23 through Sunday, August 25.

The Manhattan Beach Open is the only professional volleyball tournament in which amateurs are able to ‘place into’ the event through pre-qualifying rounds.

The tournament began in 1960 as an amateur event and is now part of the professional volleyball player’s tour. The event draws an estimated 60,000 people each year.

“We are proud to host this iconic event in our city,” stated Mayor David Lesser, City of Manhattan Beach. “We welcome visitors from around the world to join our community as we watch and participate in this wonderful event on our beautiful beach. The Manhattan Beach Open has been an annual rite of summer for more than half a century and we look forward to the great competition.”

Winners of the tournament are memorialized with bronze volleyball-shaped plaques in the Volleyball Walk of Fame which spans the length of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

The Manhattan Beach Open takes place on the south side of the Manhattan Beach Pier.
