It is time to ban fishing off the Pier before something far more serious happens. The juveniles are attracted by the smell of the bait. Making it illegal to fish for juvenile sharks isn't enough. If we don't ban fishing off the Pier this time of year we risk far worse injuries in the future and a huge impact on local business too. People are already posting on Facebook that the beach is safer in Santa Monica and elsewhere.The media is also bound to fill up with reports of other shark sightings in Manhattan Beach this summer. It's time for the town and the community to act quickly and decisively.
