10 Youths Cited During 'Party Patrol'

The 'Party Patrol' was held in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo on Friday, March 30. Its purpose is to 'seek out underage drinking parties and other juvenile related offenses.'

Ten youths were cited in the cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo during a "Party Patrol." Offenses included possession of alcohol, marijuana and tobacco, open containers of alcohol in a vehicle, as well as curfew violations, according to police. Some youths were cited for more than one offense.

Four youths were cited for possession of alcohol, four for possession of marijuana, three for possessing open alcohol containers in a vehicle, one for possession of tobacco and five were cited for curfew violations, according to Sergeant Chris Vargas of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

The Party Patrol is an enforcement program used by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and local law enforcement agencies to respond to underage drinking and deter alcohol use by minors, according to a press release. Money from an ABC grant paid for the effort, which took place in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo.
