24-Year-Old Commits Suicide in Manhattan Beach

A deceased man was found in a car behind the CVS store on Rosecrans Avenue last Thursday, the same day a decomposing body was found at a pile of fertilizer in Polliwog Park, according to authorities.

The two incidents, however, are unrelated, said officer Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Police Department Monday.

The body discovered behind CVS was determined to be a 24-year-old man who'd committed suicide, she said. He was reported missing by his family last Tuesday.

"We treat every crime scene equally," said Martin, noting officers discovered no sign of foul play or other circumstances that would lead them to believe a crime was committed. She said the department gathered information from family and friends that supported the evidence of a suicide.

The 24-year-old was not a Manhattan Beach resident.

No other information was immediately available.
