405 Backed Up to LAX

A fire burning in the Sepulveda Pass has backed up northbound 405 traffic all the way to Los Angeles International Airport, says ABC7. CHP advises motorists to stay off the 405.

A brush fire in the Sepulveda Pass that has scorched at least 70 acres is backing up northbound traffic on the 405 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol and media reports.

ABC7 has reported that traffic on the northbound portion of the freeway was backed up as far as Los Angeles International Airport.

The CHP is asking commuters to circumvent the 405 by taking the 10 Freeway or the 101. "Stay off the 405 altogether," said CHP spokesman Vince Ramirez.
