9/11 Pancake Breakfast Honors Local Emergency Personnel

Coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the breakfast was free for all police, fire, and emergency workers.

The American Martyrs Catholic Community held a pancake breakfast Sunday morning with proceeds from the event benefiting the Manhattan Beach police and fire departments.

Now in its 22nd year, the pancake breakfast is normally held on the first Sunday of every month with proceeds going to the church. This month, due to the tenth anniversary of 9/11 happening on a Sunday, event organizers decided to give all the proceeds from the breakfast to the police and fire special programs fund.

Pancakes, sausages, eggs, and the usual breakfast fixings were served for free to any emergency personnel that stopped by. Several members of the Manhattan Beach police and fire departments stopped in to enjoy camaraderie over breakfast.
