Arrests for Obstructing an Officer and Cannabis Possession

Manhattan Beach Police deal with confrontational subject and make arrest for substance possession during the weekend. A 2012 Acura parked in a driveway loses its tires and rims to thieves.

Four tires and their rims were stolen from a 2012 Acura parked in a driveway in the 2700 block of Ardmore Avenue sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 and 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, said Stephanie Martin, public information officer for the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

During the weekend, officers also made arrests for possession of concentrated cannabis and for obstructing an officer. The cannabis capture came Friday, Feb. 24 before midnight in the 1700 block of Artesia Boulevard when a passenger in a stopped vehicle who had warrants out for his arrest for probation violations was found with the substance.

The felony obstruction arrest was made around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 in the 1500 block of Rosecrans after police responded to a call about a man asking for money near Jamba Juice. According to Martin, the officer recognized the man as someone who has been confrontational with police in the past and who sometimes carries something that can be used as a weapon. The man was arrested after he fought with the officer.
