Four Manhattan Beach establishments were cited last Friday for selling alcohol to a minor, said Sgt. Chris Vargas of the Manhattan Beach Police Department, during a "minor decoy sting." One Hermosa Beach business was cited. The Manhattan Beach business cited are:
- 7-Eleven, 1221 Artesia Blvd.
- Moons Market, 3307 Highland Ave.
- Players Liquor, 3600 Highland Ave.
- Summers, 3770 Highland Ave.
A minor was sent into 17 on-sale and 31 off-sale businesses in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo during the sting, said Vargas.
Manhattan Beach has 124 bars, restaurants and retail stores licensed to sell alcohol, Hermosa Beach has 95 and El Segundo has 86, he said.
The Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and El Segundo police departments conducted the sting. Vargas said police officers and ABC investigators have partnered to provide training to ABC licensed establishments, conduct briefing training to patrol officers and conduct inspections and sting operations to make sure licensed establishments are following state laws and their local operating permits.
"We expect the results of this minor decoy sting to provide a better understanding of the need to comply with alcohol-related laws and regulations, which will enhance the safety of our citizens and protect the quality of life that exists in our communities," said Vargas.
