The male driver of a motorcycle that collided with a Honda Civic on the El Segundo side of Rosecrans Ave. Sunday night was reported to be alive after being transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, said Sergeant Kenny McShane of the El Segundo Police Department.
The motorcyclist is believed to be at fault according to a preliminary investigation, he told Patch.
The collision happened around 7:53 p.m near Pacific Ave., and closed westbound traffic from Sepulveda Blvd. until about 10:30 p.m.
Manhattan Beach paramedic/firefighters treated the man on scene and transported him in critical condition, said Ron Laursen, MBFD battalion chief.
McShane said the female driver of the Honda Civic was not injured.
Police officers from Manhattan Beach, Hawthorne, Torrance, Gardena and El Segundo were on scene shortly after the collision, as was a CHP vehicle.
