Updated: 11:05 p.m.

The male driver of a motorcycle that collided with a Honda Civic on the El Segundo side of Rosecrans Ave. Sunday night was reported to be alive after being transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, said Sergeant Kenny McShane of the El Segundo Police Department.

The motorcyclist is believed to be at fault according to a preliminary investigation, he told Patch.

The collision happened around 7:53 p.m near Pacific Ave., and closed westbound traffic from Sepulveda Blvd. until about 10:30 p.m.

Manhattan Beach paramedic/firefighters treated the man on scene and transported him in critical condition, said Ron Laursen, MBFD battalion chief.

McShane said the female driver of the Honda Civic was not injured.

Police officers from Manhattan Beach, Hawthorne, Torrance, Gardena and El Segundo were on scene shortly after the collision, as was a CHP vehicle.

Signal. Dont forget to skip my comments at start because some of my initial conclusions are just assumptions. Only thing for sure is this story was told by union rep, or closest thing they could find on the spot. I dont mean the writer of this ztory...i have no reason to doubt her integrity, but plenty to doubt that of her source.

One last point. I am shocked my comment was not immediately removed. There have been several unfortunate incidents like this where i felt it was the right thing to do, tell the truth when nobody else was going to otherwise. This is unusual in that my comment was not censored...Other times were main stream media, not patch. Thank you for allowing my comments to remain despite being very unpopular.

Uzual suspects quit changing the subject and being dishonezt. When a drunk pulls across all lanez, killing or neRly killing someone, that is a felony, unless its done by an officer. Some of you already know, lizten to know for sure. I am not blaming any ody, just being honest. There is a lot of peer prezsure in police and fire jobs to keep things like this private. Itz not as if they are being dishonest to anyone that matters, its only to the public. Its not like it was a cop who had his life stolen only to be insulted...its asa difficult job after all.

Again to usual suzpects. Your misreprezentation of tbe torrance incixent iz shameful, not only were they guilty as hell in that incident, but just last year unless it was 2011, mike mastic from internal affairs waz caught drunk accixent left scene, had his wife claim it was her...or are my fActs mixed up...there have been zeveral so stfu with your ignorant police lies. I am not the only one who seez these clear as day, just the only one who takes the time to confront you. Lie some more. By now u should know dishonesty by you guys will fill this page with facts.

I didn't hear anything about an off duty officer being involved, yes they did say there may be an off duty officer on scene. But what the cops are saying about him hitting a car that was stopped at the light cant be right. The car was way to far back from the light to be stopped for it. At that time of night there is never enough traffic for it to be stopped that far back. The good news is he lived, The bad news is he lost his lower left leg & had no other injuries
