Fire Damages Home on Marine Avenue

The damage estimate is about $10,000, say MB city officials, adding that MB Fire Department extinguished the blaze in less than five minutes this morning. No one was home and no one was injured.

A house at 531 Marine Avenue with smoke coming from its roof was put out in less than five minutes by Manhattan Beach Firefighters this morning, according to city officials.

No one was injured in the fire, reported at 8:29 a.m. by a next door neighbor who called 9-1-1 after hearing the residence's smoke alarm. The cause of the fire is under investigation but it is believed to have started in a wall heater, said MB Fire Chief Bob Espinosa. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Fire damage, estimated at $10,000, was contained to the wall and attic area around the wall heater. The first alarm fire automatically triggered mutual aid fire units from Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach.
