Former Laker Matt Barnes Pleads No Contest
The "no contest" plea to misdemeanor offenses still nets the professional basketball player plenty of actions he has to take. How much probation did he get; will he do community service, and will he have to see a therapist?
Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes pleaded no contest Tuesday to misdemeanor unlicensed driver and resisting arrest charges.
The 32-year-old basketball player -- who has signed with the Clippers -- was immediately sentenced to two years probation, ordered to complete 30 hours of community service and attend 13 sessions of counseling with a private therapist, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Barnes was arrested July 30 after a run-in with a Manhattan Beach police officer who was aware that he had an outstanding warrant for the misdemeanor traffic offense, authorities said.
