Free Parking in Downtown Manhattan Beach for the Holidays

Park for free in select spots in downtown Manhattan Beach for the holidays.

Tis the season to not pay for parking in downtown Manhattan Beach as the traditional bagging of the parking meters is on now through Friday, Dec. 27.

All free parking spaces will still have time-limit restrictions so do vacate the parking space within the time limit [typically, two hours] or face the prospect of receiving a parking ticket for an “Over-Posted Limit” violation.

The Los Angeles County-owned Manhattan Beach Pier and El Porto beach parking lots are not included in the meter bagging.

The city will lose approximately $42,000 per week of bagging, according to city documents. Downtown merchants, however, are in support of the bagged meters, a tradition that went by the wayside during the financially tough years of 2009 and 2010.
