Hermosa Beach PD Warns of Phone Scams

Do not give money or your personal information to anyone, officials say.

A press release from the Hermosa Beach Police Department:

Numerous phone scams are occurring regularly that demand money be sent or credit card information be given.  

The scams involve calling grandparents, calls from the IRS stating you owe money, or a utility company calling stating your behind in your payments and if you don't pay now services will be turned off.

I've received several such calls plus others in which the East Indian callers tell you that your Windows is not running optimally and they will fix it for you. With a few keystrokes, they'll have access to everything on your computer. I jotted down the command but of course didn't enter them. Beware! Redondo PD wasn't interested. Glad to hear that HB is.
