Indecent Exposure and Mailbox, Package Theft

Here are a few crime reports to be aware of.

Here's a brief look at crime reports in Manhattan Beach.

On April 23 between 10:10 and 10:20 a.m., a man intentionally exposed himself to another person at 10th and Herrin streets, according to police reports. He is described as white, 40-45 years old with a medium build. He spoke with an unknown type of accent and the car associated with him is reported to be a 4-door silver Dodge sedan.

In other crime reports, thefts of mail from U.S. Postal Service and residential mailboxes as well as packages delivered to homes in Manhattan Beach continue.

American Express cards delivered in packages by UPS were stolen and used at gas stations. One package had been left at the back door of a residence in the 1700 block of Harkness St. and is believed to have been taken between 10 and 11:30 a.m. on April 17. The other package was left on a porch on Arbolado Court on April 23.

The mailbox near the Macy's Men's Store and Coffee Bean in Manhattan Village has been the site of tampering. In one case, the suspect altered a check and attempted to cash it at a Bank of America in Huntington Beach. In another instance, the suspect altered a check and attempted to cash it at a Bank of American in Westminster.

A piece of mail addressed to Southern California Edison and placed in one of the above mentioned mailboxes was later found opened and minus the previously enclosed check at Pacific and Rosecrans avenue as was another piece of mail that contained tax filings.

In yet another instance, personal checks believed deposited in one of those two mailboxes altered and cashed.

Fraud thieves apparently also like other mailboxes in the city. Personal checks dropped in a USPS mailbox at 500 N. Redondo Ave. went missing, with one altered and cashed. The victim in that case said a sticky substance on the inside of the mailbox had made it difficult to drop the mail inside.
