Lakers Matt Barnes Arrested in Downtown MB

On the eve of the Charlie Saikley 6-Man Beach Volleyball Tournament, in which rowdy and drunken behavior has became the norm, the Lakers player manages to get arrested on suspicion of threatening a police officer during an arrest for something else.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes was out on bail today after being arrested on suspicion of threatening a police officer Monday night.

Barnes, 32, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard, said Manhattan Beach police Lt. Steve Tobias.

An officer who was aware that Barnes had an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor traffic offense saw him on foot and took him into custody, Tobias said.
