Four Manhattan Beach police officers were recently recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the Los Angeles County AVOID Coalition for their "hard work and commitment in targeting drunk drivers."
MBPD officers Dave Caveney, Jesse Garcia, David Gibbons and Tony Presgraves received the distinction.
To qualify for this award, an officer must make more than 25 arrests in a one-year period. Officers who meet that criteria are recognized and given the “23152” award and uniform pin. Officers who make more than 100 DUI arrests in a one-year period are recognized and given the “Century” award and uniform pin.
Garcia made 114 arrests in the one-year period and was awarded the honor of the "Century" award.
Gibbons made 67 arrests; Caveney made 62 arrests and Presgraves made 35 arrests.
