Man Pulls Pocket Knife on Resident

Two incidents Wednesday morning bring MBPD to the north end of town.

A man found rummaging through a truck in the 3700 block of The Strand Wednesday around 6:30 a.m. pulled a pocket knife when confronted by the owner, said Officer Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

Then, in an apparently unrelated incident, MBPD was called to 30th Street and Highland Avenue around 8:18 a.m. to check out a report of a 30-year-old hispanic man attempting to open car doors. That man was described as wearing all white clothes and having a black backpack. Police did not locate him during their search of the area, Martin said.

In The Strand incident, the suspect is described as a male hispanic, 20- to 30-years-old, 6' tall with a thin build.

The truck's owner had been loading personal belonging into his truck and left it unlocked. He was away from his truck for awhile, and when he returned, he found the man rummaging through his belongings.

When confronted, the suspect brandished a pocket knife and took off running westbound toward The Strand. The truck's owner ran after the man but did not catch up to him. MBPD was called about 30 minutes after the incident, Martin said.
