Mangiamo Restaurant Burglarized

Forced entry happened sometime last Monday morning after staff closed the restaurant and before they returned at noon.

Burglars broke into Mangiamo Ristorante & Bar in downtown Manhattan Beach Monday morning, taking bottles of wine and bags of frozen food, according to police.

The break-in was discovered by the owner at noon on Monday, March 19. Burglars forced entry through a rear door that had been improperly locked, Detective Sergeant Brian Brown with MBPD told Manhattan Beach Patch.

Brown said that the restaurant's surveillance video was reviewed on site and will undergo greater scrutiny once MBPD receives it.

Wine prices for full bottles at Mangiamo range from $32 to $450. Brown did not have an estimated value for the items taken in the burglary.

Mangiamo opened in November of 1984 at 128 Manhattan Beach Boulevard, just steps from the beach and pier. Its cuisine is primarily southern Italian, with a focus on fresh seafood, according to its website. The restaurant opens nightly at 5 p.m. and has a full bar.
