A press release from the Manhattan Beach Police Department:

The Manhattan Beach Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety, increase the awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and deter impaired driving and unlicensed driving.

The intent of the checkpoint is to encourage sober designated drivers. By publicizing these educational and enforcement efforts, the Manhattan Beach Police Department believes that drinking and driving and driving while unlicensed will be reduced.

Our “Zero Tolerance” approach to enforcement sends a clear message to those who still don’t heed the warning to designate a sober driver before celebrations begin. Simply put, “If you are over the legal limit, you will be arrested.”

The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.

Where?

They never say. That's how they get you to be responsible instead of just dodging the checkpoint.

Yes they do. It is published in advance every time. You can also call the police station and they will tell when and where the checkpoint is located.

I seem to remember something I Learned in school about rights. Oh yeah: AMENDMENT IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

“If you are over the legal limit, you will be arrested.” They will also arrest you if you are under the legal limit. They also like to arrest people that stand up for their rights - especially that pesky 4th Amendment to the Constitution.
