Manhattan Beach Police Launch Public Communications System

Nixle is a communications system that generates email and text notifications sent to subscribers. The Manhattan Beach Police Department now is on Nixle.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department has officially launched its use of Nixle, a public safety communications system, used by a multitude of police departments including the Torrance Police Department, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Police Chief Eve R. Irvine had told community members gathered at recent crime prevention presentations last month the department would begin to use Nixle to communicate with the public.

To receive messages from the Manhattan Beach Police Department via Nixle, community members go online to subscribe to the Manhattan Beach feed; messages in the feed are delivered via email or text.

The department's first message reads, "... subscribers will receive up-to-date information of critical importance and/or interest to the Manhattan Beach community delivered instantly..." The notifications are also be available online on the Nixle web site.
