Manhattan Beach Runners Among Those Registered for Boston Marathon

Here is the list of Manhattan Beach residents signed up to run.

Explosions rocked the finish line at the Boston Marathon Monday as nearly 27,000 runners participated in one of the world's most popular running events.

Of those 27,000 runners, 15 Manhattan Beach residents were listed as having registered for the race including:

  • Jason Argent
  • Christopher Bennett
  • William Crader
  • Silvia Flint
  • Chuck F. Kaminski
  • Thuy Le
  • Kevin Lohner
  • Atlee Murphy
  • Laurie Peterson
  • Rachel Ragona
  • Tami Shalvarjian
  • Patrick Sweeney
  • Dan Tacone
  • Rita Walsh
  • Robyn A. Younie

As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, a search of the official Google Person Finder for the Boston Marathon Explosions yielded messages that Crader, Flint, Kaminski, Murphy and Shalvarjian were all OK. Jason Argent also sent an email to Patch indicating he and his wife were both ok. The statuses of the remaining runners were not updated as of publishing time.

According to the Boston Marathon's official website, some of Manhattan Beach's listed runners did not end up crossing the finish line while others crossed before the explosions occurred. Once the explosions occurred, runners were diverted away from the finish line, a possible explanation of why some runners did not cross.

The Red Cross has a "Safe and Well" site to give those at the Boston Marathon a way to let their friends and family know they are safe and for their loved ones to post the names of people they are looking for. The site is busy and it may take a couple of tries to link to it.
